Yes! Wood ducks nest in trees in old woodpecker holes, and roost in trees near their nest. However they nest in riparian areas where there is still water close by.

Actually there is one species of duck in North America that will nest in the cavities of a tree that is close to the water. That is the wood duck. The young actually jumps from the cavity and on to the ground. They are pretty light. And no they don't get injured when they jump. And there is no such thing as a regular bird.

A Wood Duck likes to nest in a hollow in a tree above water, All other ducks to my knowledge never get in trees , they hide in tall grass along the edge of lakes and rivers.

Wood ducks do roost in trees near or over water. The babies "jump" their first time out of the nest. Ducks just don't have the feet for tree-living.
A lot of "regular" birds don't roost in trees though: seabirds roost in big colonies on rocks; burrowing owls live underground; meadowlarks, plovers, and many other birds nest on the ground.
