I collect the labels from beer bottles. I don't really bother with ones from the UK but I try to get new ones whenever I go abroad. My favourite one is Everest Beer from Nepal. My collection started in Costa Rica where Pilsen lager had a different half-naked calendar girl printed on the label every month.
It is a fairly cheap and easy thing to collect and I keep them all in a scrapbook. Plus it is a good excuse to sample all the local beers. The rule is that you can only collect a label if you have actually drunk the beer.

Beer mats, they're free and collectible! I've still got some from the time of the 1966 World Cup. Anyone want to make me an offer?

Collecting has to come from within. You have to like, or love what you collect. I used to like tins, the kind that they sale food items in (commemorative tins). I lost interest in them. They used to sit on a shelf, and collect dust. Now they are all in garbage bags in storage. I have always collected cat figurines. I have a curio cabinet full of them , all sizes, and colors, from Lennox to cheap dollar store finds. So what I'm really saying is no one can tell you what to collect. It has to be something you like. GOOD LUCK!

I collect key-rings. They are usually found under £5 and your friends and family buy them for you too as they are cheap. I have a nautical collection my husband got me and a miner set I found in a charity shop. You will find almost every firm has them and some places give them away free, also supermarkets have them for £1 for charities. (Asda is doing Tickled Pink ones right now).

Pick a special color glassware, I collect anything red or clear. I also collect scotty dogs, preferably small and glass. You could also pick a fave artist and collect anything they do. Or go to a garage sale or small antique store and find something that catches your attention. Then seek out things that go with it everywear you go. More than 2 and you're a collector.

Stamps are cheerful and colorful, and used stamps are certainly inexpensive. Ask your family, friends, and people at work, church, etc. to save them for you. They don't take up much room and there certainly are a lot of them out there. Many collectors specialize in some topic they like, such as birds, butterflies, cats, and so on. The technical term is "philately" ("fill-LAT-a-lee").

I've been collecting stickers for 17 years. They are cheap, colorfull and chearfull. I also use them on all sorts of crafts and artful things. I also sell some, give them away and color any binders I have at home with them.
