The monthly discharge from the uterus is not only blood, but tissue and other substances that can change its color. Also, it is "old" blood that's been building for a month. It's not abnormal for the discharge to be brown instead of red, so stop worrying about it. There will be times it will come out a bright red, and sometimes, a pale pinkish color. Often, when blood is explosed to the air, even on a pad, it can turn brown. Talk to some of your friends, or your mom, and I'll bet they have brown periods too, occasionally. It's nothing serious, hon, but if it worries you that much, talk to your doctor about it and don't be shy or embarrassed. Doctors hear all kinds of things and nothing -- absolutely nothing will shock them. Good luck!

Fresh blood is red. Old blood is brown, even if it is inside of you. If its just a little at the beginning of your period, I wouldn't worry too much, it may just be left over from last month. But, if it is quit a bit, and continuing, I would consult a doctor. There may be more going on than you think. Early detection of a problem is the best. Good luck.

its normal. Sometimes, the blood is dried up a bit, or you are having a light period. Have you been dehydrated lately?
