After only 6 days, it is very unlikely that a pelvic exam would give you a confirmation of pregnancy. There is a blood test, however, that your doctor could do to check for certain. You should see a doctor in either case if you are feeling 'different' in your female parts. There may be another reason for your late period, and the feelings you have been having. Good luck

I wouldn't subject myself to an intrusive pelvic exam. Simply wait a week or so, the seasons are changing and with that usual menstrual cycles sometimes change days. You would also probably be able to find out by having bloodwork done which is a bit less intrusive. Good Luck!! Oh yeah and from experience the tender breast and fluttering feelings are probably in your head because you know of the possible outcome.

Hi - A pelvic exam wouldn't show an enlarged uterus, but a speculum exam might show a change in the cervix. Best exam - urine or serum pregnancy test - both of which eould be positive if you have regular monthly cycles. Tender breasts are a sign as well, but those also come before menses. Feeling fetal movement doesn't come til after 4 months. Home pregnancy test should help you know for sure. Jan

Hi There
No a pelvic exam will not be able to tell whether you are pregnant or not at this early stage.
In fact I think it's too early for a blood test to prove it.
The fluttering feeling and tender breasts could just be a sign that you are due to have your period.
Being stressed or emotionally upset about something does have the effect of delaying periods.

it sounds as if you are so congrats!!!
just wait another couple of days and do another test or just goto the doctors and ask them to do one for you. as to the feelings your getting join the club im getting the same heavy feelings which i don't normally get with a due period, I'm also getting cramps which get a bit worse if i move too fast, but the go just as quick as they come so i wouldn't worry. as to the test Ive done about 6 of them in the past 3 days because the hormone level in my urine is so low its hard to tell that's there's 2 line instead of just the one. i would suggest that you go see the doctor and ask for a blood test before going through a pelvic exam. good luck!!

Not sure, I think it might be a bit early. And I think you only get the fluttering when the baby starts moving, unless I'm thinking of a different feeling.
Only way to be sure is wait a little longer then do another test. :)

No, a pelvic exam can not tell if you are pregant. The doctor's will tell you they can't tell unless you arae abour 8 weeks pregnant
6 day late is nothing . stress , a cold, not enough sleep for a long period of time are just some things that could cause it to be late.

Tell your doctor you suspect pregnancy, they will probably want to do a blood test. You can have a pap smear because that is standard during your first prenatal visit.
