I've seen quite a few, and none of them have actually been scary. People have said "The Ring" was the scariest movie they've ever seen. No it wasn't. I need something SCARY!! Please, please... Suggest something that is truely terrifying!

Thanks.

I really appreciate all of the answers given!! :-D I can't even choose a best answer :-( Sorry!! Maybe I'll choose one, but as of right now, I have no idea which is the best, cause I don't have time to go out and see who was telling me a really good scary movie!

So far, it seems like The Exorcist is a scary movie.. I'll hafta check that out :-)

Any Hitchcock movie: North by Northwest, Psycho, The Birds, etc. Some Stephen King movies are almost as good as the books. Now remember, these are not blood and guts movies - these make you think. What could be scarier than Cary Grant being chased by a crop duster - or Jimmy Stewart having to go up into that tower when he's afraid of heights. Or Rear Window - when Jimmy Stewart sees a murder across the way, but no one believes him - then the guy comes for HIM. Cary Grant climbing down the rock face - or 'Who did take the money in Paris?' Who'd a thunk it was Walter Matthau?
Best of all time: "On the Beach" - Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner - you never see a dead body - but you know we destroyed ourselves with nuclear weapons. Just because they're old(er) doesn't mean they're not better and scarier than h#ll!!

Showgirls....absolutely terrifying...

Seriously, though, the only few I can think of that would be really scary is The Exorcist, The Shining (the original w/Jack Nicholson, NOT the TV mini), and The Grudge.

I'm the type of person who gets scared from the most stupid stuff. So, I'd say the scariest movie I've seen would be "When A Stranger Calls", mostly because it's one of the only horror movies I've seen.

I watched the ring in broad daylight, and it freaked the hell outa me. The japanese original Ringu wasnt even near scarry.

Also, the classic: The Birds by Alfred Hitchhock...was scarry too. Theres something about seagulls that go berzerk and want to eat your brains out for no reason. 0_0 evil I tell u

stir of echoes freaks me out, but...it's not really scary, I think it's just me. And Stigmata in some ways as well. I don't scare easily, those two scare me on a different level than "OH NO not a chainsaw!" lol

Devil's Rejects, did not scare me. I couldn't even finish it though because I was so completely disgusted.

I watched THE WAX HOUSE just recently and thought it was quite scary but don't know how you would perceive it. Its not a spooky film but made me jump few times and I was at the edge of my seat at all times.

Good luck!

I go for sick/twisted rather than scary, so If you are squemish and don't like watching someone get their head chopped into little pieces then disregard this post. lol

I loved Saw 1 and 2
Hostel
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Devil's rejects

Not as gory, but I also like the Grudge
