1 or 2 spoonfuls is a major accomplishment when you are adding a new meal or food to a baby's diet. I don't know how long it takes her to digest her formula, but it's possible she's still full from her bottle. Try giving her the cereal or fruit at 8:00 instead of 7:30.

I have a 11 month old baby and she is not really keen on having breakfast even now. Like your daughter at 6 months she would only have a couple of spoons and some mornings nothing, just her milk, but over time it got better the more active she became and therefore hungrier, now she eats round about half a bowl of her cereal and some fruits or just her full bowl of her cereal when she's ready.
it is true that the milk does fill them up but a good way to approach this so you can feel okay with her progress is to remember that the milk is their main staple meal source so any thing added to that is a supplement until she is a bit older and ready to replace the milk feed with solids. I really think at this point the best thing here is to be guided by her and follow her pace.
What your doing now waiting an hour after her milk feed sounds about right just be persistent and patient she'll let you know when she's ready keep up the good work.

Just take it slow. Don't stop attempting to give her breakfast, but just let her guide you. You could also start trying to give her some food before the morning bottle. That's the biggy once they get older and you start trying to cut down on the bottles all together. She if she will eat some while she is still in the hungry phase. But since she's only 6 months, she really hasn't had too much time to adjust to eating solids, so just giver her time. And before you know it she will be eating off the table and not even worrying about the bottle. :) Good Luck.

Hi there,
If you are trying to introduce breakfast you need to cut out the bottle of formula - solid food replaces the bottle - so your daughter is just not hungry and therefore will not eat.
Try giving her a warm fruit juice - one that is recommended for babies of 6 months old. That way it will get her digestive system going (wake her up somewhat) and she will be ready to eat for you.
Alwasy offer her a bottle of milk after the breakfast - especially if she doesn't eat too much, that way you know she will be getting all the vitamins she needs to keep her going until lunch time.
After a few days she will start to get used to it and probably eat a lot more - when she starts eating a full breakfast replace the bottle of milk with her fruit juice - don't want to overfeed her.
Regards
Jo

You're trying too soon. The stomach takes up to an hour and a half to empty after a meal, and longer still to digest in the intestines. Give her a bit less milk than usual, and when she does show interest introduce the nearest thing to milk for breakfast which could be rice pudding. Pureed fruit is more suitable for dinners and teas.

How much formula is she getting at 7:30am?
She may be too full to want anything an hour later.
Try cutting her formula back, like, half of what you are feeding her now, and then try the "real food" an hour later.
Try the oatmeal, but only try a little bit, about 1 or 2 tablespoons, and add about 1/2 a tablespoon of her favorite baby food fruit (like applesauce or bananas).

Let her have 1/3 or 1/2 of her bottle. Then try food. She's filled up on milk.

it fairly is wonderful to allow him devour rice cereal if he will take it that early, yet you mustn't be lowering his formula or attempting to swap his formula with solids until he's nearer to a 365 days previous. At this element the forged nutrition is barely to get his digestive equipment waiting to transition to sturdy nutrition basically whilst he's a 365 days previous or older. As to how plenty he might desire to be ingesting, it rather is fairly up the guy mom. I feed my 6 month previous a million or 2 servings of solids, and then I furnish a bottle after the forged nutrition. you do not fairly might desire to have them ingesting rice cereal or toddler nutrition with each and each meal. maximum docs say you may desire to attempt to wean a newborn off the bottle at 365 days, yet some toddlers take a splash longer. i could be nervous if a newborn wasn't off the bottle with the help of roughly 15 months. even with the reality that, some teenagers throw away there bottles a splash in the previous, like approximately 11 months.

Breast milk or formula is supposed to be the main food source for the first year. Three meals a day is too much, two meals a day is pushing it. Food is introduced at this age not for the nutritional value, but more just to give them a taste for it and to get them used to it. Please read up on it. Studies are even now showing that it's better to start solids around 7 or 8 months. Here are some helpful links. God Bless
