Quick question: is the XP cd (the Operating System CD) that is needed for Repair Installation the same as the XP Restore CD? The only cds that came with my comp (as far as i can remember) were the Restore CDs (CD 1 and 2). I do not want to restore my computer to factory settings, only want to go through Repair installation, so, yeah, can you do that from the XP Restore CD, or do you need another kind of XP cd? Thanks.

I do not believe you will get a repair with the restore CDs. I would try using Restore to an earlier date. If you have a problem that isn't too old - you should be able to "go back".
I believe you need the original XP DVD to use repair feature. Always nice to have a program like GHOST that will copy your hard drive for you - just in case......
