First, isolate x:
-4x < 11 - 8
-4x < 3
Multiply both sides by -1/4:
x > -3/4
Not the direction change! When you multiply by a negative number, the direction changes. Prove it to yourself this way:
You'd get the same thing if you added +4x to both sides:
8 - 4x < 11
8 < 11 + 4x
8 - 11 < 4x
-3 < 4x
Multiply by +1/4:
-3/4 < x
or...
x > -3/4

*Result is
exact : x > -3/4
approximate : x > -0.75
good luck.

u subtract the 8 from each side and get
-4x<3
divide by -4 and get x<-3/4
but since u divided by a negative number u hav 2 flip the sign so ur answer is x>-3/4

8 - 4x < 11 (original equation)
- 4x < 3 (subtract 8 from each side)
x > -3/4 (divide each side by -4... but remember to flip the sign b/c u are diving by a negative number)
ur answer would be x > -3/4
so your answer is wrong....

1) 8 - 4x < 11
subtract 8 from each side
2) -4x < 3
divide by -4 (flip the sign when dividing by negatives)
3) x > -(3/4)

8-4x<11
first you have to take negative 4 away because its the dangler so you cross it out and make it positive 4 than you add that to <11 and get 15.
so the answer is 8x<15 because you bring down 8x and instead of = you have < so that's what you get for the final answer
