I think i'm gonna do that one day, cause this life is not free, it is bullshit that we think we're happier than others just because we get doped with sex and newest technology. This is a big bullshit.

Money, etc is only wrong if you're in LOVE with it. Let's be practical. You need a car to get around in. You obviously need to wear clothing and you need money to buy food, etc. Instead of getting rid of all your stuff, try using what you have for the good of others and yourself. For instance, if you have a car, use the car to take your widowed, elderly neighbor to her doctor's appointments. If you have more clothes than you will ever need, have a garage sale and give the money to the poor. If you have a lot of money that you don't want, give it to Katrina victims or one of the many, many charities that help people who have needs.

I sometimes think about giving things away, especially if I don't need them any more. If I am going to aquire a material item though I always ask myself first;

" Do I really need this? Does it really serve a purpose in my life, or am I just getting it because everyone else says I should have it? "

The only reason the consumer society gets out of control is because people are sheep, and just buy into advertising, or falsely created cultural assumptions. I believe in meaningful coincidence, so also believe that if you truly question yourself first, then there will be a reason and purpose for having certain material goods in your life - but not others.

If you do find you are overrun with 'junk' then get shot of it. Have a clear out. Root through your cupboards and chuck out the clutter. Get rid of all the baggy clothes that no longer fit, or the CDs you no longer listen to. Sell on some of your no-longer-needed things and put the money to a good cause.

No, I did not. The only ppl I know of that did do that were either contemplating suicide (seriously) or joining a cult like Jim Jones' or the Moonies.

Get off dope, take a break from sex, toss your tech stuff in your closet, and live without it all for a little while! You might pick up a book and read. Teach yourself how to play a musical instrument. Volunteer to read to old ppl or kids! It might just help make you more ... real!

There is a nice little book by Douglas Coupland called Miss Wyoming that has a character, fed up with his life, who gives everything away including his name, in order to find meaning. He enjoys the process of giving everthing up but once he has nothing he is left wondering "now what?". He realises life is exactly the same as before except now he has nothing. You might want to read it

First of all if you gave away everything where would you live and what would you eat?

Are you in some sort of religious cult?

All of those cults do that sort of stuff. They tell the people to give up their stuff and the GURU rides in a stretch limo with his 6 wives while you wear a robe and do the farming.

:o)

I've thought about living without all the restrictions that life gives you. I don't think you need to 'give away' your things to be free. Being 'free' is a state of mind, not your possessions.

Being 'free' is opening up your mind to things you thought you couldn't or wouldn't do for fear of consequences or whatever reason. You have to train yourself to learn to let go.

Yeah I've thought about it...

God says he will look after and provide for us - look at people that have had a large influence on this world, and look at how they lived - would you like to be remembered for the large house and flash car, or for saving lives of others...

This is your life. Live and enjoy it and shut out the indoctrinators. Be you, discover yourself, I am sure you are a nice person and not as gullible as you sound.

Get out there and live dued - life is for living!

Buddha did that with his riches and walked among the poor. What exactly have you got to give. I could take the CD collection and any cash that you may have.

Yes, but not for altruistic reasons, but because they are a damn nuisance. They are expensive and you have to keep changing them for the latest whiz bang model.
