can you get the linea negra if you are not pregnant?

Question

test are all negative but this line on my belly apearse it is light brow mybe a cinimeter wide and from my belly botton to my pubic bone was not there before an if I was preg I woud be twelve weeks has anyone ever else been through same thing?

Just to add I have not been pregnant before and my belly has gotton a little bit bigger but not much and have had other pregnancy symtoms too and have had my periods.

The "Linea negra" can appear for different reasons, pregnancy is one, inflamation is another one, if you think you might be 12 weeks, it is about time the HPT turns positive, so if it turned negative you are more likely NOT to be pregnant, Home pregnancy tests can tell you 4 days before you even miss a period if you are pregnant or not. I say you are not, there might be something else going on with you.

i nvr got the line until i was pg with my daughter but if uve been pg b4 that would be why its there it doesnt go away have u had a blood test? and have u had a period?? 12 wks thats like 3 months along? u would have a pudge by now and well id say just go to ur doctor. Any other symptoms??

I don't think the line is a definate indicator of pregnancy, I have never gotten one with either of my pregnancies. If you miss your period, definately take a home test or go to the doctor for a blood test.

The only other thing that causes linea nigra besides pregnancy hormones is insulin. You should mention it to your dr. and you need to be tested for diabetes and insulin resistance.

you were already born with the line.......in other words it was already there b4 u gotpregnant.......and not every one has it.....mostly common in dark skinned woman.
