Gallons are a measure of VOLUME. The length-width-height dimensions of the tank can vary while still giving you the same number of gallons. No one can accurately answer your question, except to tell you what some commonly sold tanks measure.

There are two different 20 gallon tanks one is 24" long and high and one is 36" long but only 12" high a 30gal is the same as a 20 long only it is 18" tall

Measure the 3 dimensions in inches and multiply them out to find the total cubic inches in the tank and then divide by 231.

The answer is the gallons of your tank.
