My hero is my husband. Waking up and looking over at him sleeping softly with his head against his pillow and not being able to imagine another man in his place. When we sit down to eat together how he reaches over and gives the prime bite to his children to eat, how they open their mouths like little birds waiting for a morsel, what he wishes for himself he gives and says I've been eating this for many years before them, they will enjoy it more. When my kids ask for things he wishes to give them even when he can't, and says if they don't ask me who can they ask? A real man knows what is valueable. We cherish him as he cherishes us. He is patient and endearing during our hardships and takes it too heart always wishing to give his family the best. He puts his own personal needs last and willing gives for the sake of his kids. When he looks at me, he sees someone desirable but when I look in the mirror I see someone older, heavier and not very attractive but he sees another person and then I see, he sees someone he wants to grow old with. When he is in his deathbed its our eyes he will look into and when he is faced with God I believe in my heart he will be praising his family and thanking God for what he was given. He looks back on his life and how things used to be but he is grateful for what he has, this is the man that I am married too. Even with his faults they do not overshadow his personality by a long shot. He is someone I cannot imagine ever replacing even if God decided to take back the soul that belongs to him, never can a person fill his shoes. The love is deeper then the shallow affections shown in life, it covers all faults and grows ever deeper then the vanities of life. This is the true meaning of a hero.

You could say, instead of Hero--Heroine, this:

Hero, or Shero.
Heros, or Sheroes.

Jesus. Not the Jesus of contemporary religion, but the Jesus of contemporary Judaism two thousand years ago. He taught an alternative Way of thought which, in todays religion, has been subdued, codified and regretably converted into a religion, rather than a Way.

Marquis de Sade...

His writing is disturbing yet intriguing... He's one of my hero's because of the fact that despite what people said, did, or thought about him he would always stand beside his extreme freedom beliefs.

my grandmother. she is smart. she didn't have the greatest husband so she raised 5 children by herself and had to "figure out ways" to have money. then i didn't have the best mother so she raised me and my siblings without blinking an eye. she is 83 now and still going strong. She endures and survives. That is heroic to me.

My dad. He was kind, generous and loving, even to people who didn't deserve it sometimes. He helped others and always praised us. He never raised a hand to us and taught us self-respect and individuality! I miss him every day!
