I drink lots of warm water and tea. I also gargle with warm water and salt. Buckley's is so gross but that works really well if you have a sore throat from a cough

Time and the body's ability to heal itself are the only things that will truly cure a sore throat. However, while you're waiting for those to work, there are a few things you can do to help it along or to make yourself feel a bit better.

Honey is a natural antibiotic, so be sure to use that. Any of the listed remedies with honey would work. Then, if you've also lost your voice and need it back for awhile, boil ginger and drink that. You can use boiled powdered ginger (about a half-teaspoon in a small mug of water or a teaspoon in a large mug) and sweeten it with a little honey so you can actually stand to drink it, but it's best if you get a piece of gingerroot and slice some of that and boil it in a pan on the stove. Make it as strong as you can stand it. Sweeten (with honey, of course) if needs be. Drinking this will give your voice back for a little while. Don't do it too often, since your voice actually needs to rest so it can heal, but once or twice shouldn't hurt anything. Most grocery stores carry gingerroot; it's not even expensive. (The price per pound may look high, but each piece you'd buy only weighs a few ounces.)

Drink (in sips) warm water, adding a teaspoon of honey and some lemon juice. Repeat when you feel sore. Works for me every time. Hargling warm salt water will help as well.

Nothing will completely take it away. Try to drink some hot tea with some lemon and honey in it.
