It's perfectly legitimate to have this fear. It's what you have been brought up to think about what revolves in gay culture from what you hear in church, at home and school. I had the same thoughts. I prayed to God daily and nightly to take away my homosexuality. It wasn't until I was 19 that I actually came out (or moreso accepted it) and realized that was what I always needed. That was a freedom, that was taking away a lie. HIV and AIDS does NOT only affect the gay community nor do gays have more new infections each day. The problem is it's a disease that is transmittable and affecting both the gay and the straight world, the straight world just has not quite fully accepted that yet. Don't be too afraid. Just be sure to ALWAYS be safe no matter how well you think you know your partner and try not to fall into promiscuity because that increases chances. Just be safe and hold onto your faith and you'll be fine.

Well guy, getting STD (Sexual Transmitted Disease), can affect not only gays but heterosexuals as well. The issue at hand is the sexual conduct in which you engage in. One way of cutting down the changes of not contracting AIDS; is to not participate in anal sex; or at the very least use a condom; and or not sleep with those with a HIV+ status.
With anyone you engage with in any sexual activity; always find out their status. Don't take their word for it. It's known that 1/3 of people who pass on a virus, don't realize they are a carrier. Check out the following website; perhaps it can help you adjust much better and add comfort to your mind and heart:

Being homosexual is not bad.
Being homosexual does not mean that you have or will get a disease that will call you early.
The key here is to find a true love and live in a committed, monogamous relationship. HIV, as an example, is generally transmitted either through mult-partner sexual contact and/or intravenouos drug use. Avoid both of those and you chance of contracting the virus is very very low.
Good luck to you and God bless.

Honey, being homosexual does not mean you are going to contract HIV. God made you the way you are, so don't disrespect God by trying to be something else.
People are like shoes, everybody has a mate somewhere! Until you find the right guy for you, use condoms EVERY TIME!!! Barebacking is NOT cool, unless you are in a committed, monogamous relationship.
I suggest you find a local gay community, find some friends to hang with. You don't have to be sexually active just because you are gay.
God bless, Darlin'. Life is too sweet to spend it being scared. Enjoy.

Well I used to cry myself to sleep every night also. I hated it and I too was afraid and to this day am still afraid to die. But just know you'll be fine and don't be ignorant. Be careful out there, and try to be a very committed person. I believe in God and pray to God, and I am Gay. I am also a very good person and I know God knows this. Nobody knows what is on ther other side...if they did, they'd be dead! So...don't worry! It is easier said than done, but you'll be fine!

wait a minute slow down, listen obviously your putting yourself in what is called "risky" situations, if you're even fearing that your gonna contract something. SO STOP! only you can prevent something happening to you, for some reason you feel like you don't (don't know y) but if you think u might doing something (you know wat i mean) use protection. I also suggest that you take bi-monthly tests at a free clinic, you will become a victim if you let yourself be a victim
:) be careful is all im saying
and cheer up at 17 you shouldn't be so morbid
your just beginning life

You have right to have fears of being gay. But being gay does mean you are going to die if one takes the right protection when having sex. It was the gay community that step forward to make the use condoms part of safe sex.
If an when you make that choice to have sex find person who is caring and respects you and himself. One can have sex when done with condom for your safety and your partners.
