fall garden mums are nice. Perennial here in Southern ontario. Bee Balm are pretty, coneflowers are good for dry areas. Of course evergreens are easy. Just remember if your around here, don't fertilize after this weekend. But remember to WATER YOUR PLANTS!!!!!!!!

Hey there. Well fall is a time for yellows, reds, and orange so if you're looking to add a little spice to your street then try adding ferns around the bases of your trees in a mulch ring. Though they turn brown they make a lovely fall statement. Furthermore, the addition of marigolds both golden and crimson can add spunk to your flower bed even when the other’s have gone. Pompous grass has a beautiful purple fall flower that you may want to consider as well. There are actually a variety of landscaping shrubs and flowers you can use simply make a visit to your nearest greenhouse and they can hook you up.

You didn't say if you wanted veggies or flowers, so here are a few of both.
Vegetables: Lettuce, radishes, beets, carrots, onions, garlic, chard, broccoli, cabbage.
Flowers: Mums and asters are the traditional fall flowers, but pansies and violas like cool weather, are hardy, and will survive some pretty cold temps.

Some of the easiest things you can plant for fall is bulbs for next Spring. :-) That way...you'll have color to look forward to.
As for fall color...chrysanthemums and asters are what most people plant.

You can plant some blackeyed susans, cone flowers ( different colors), I have a plant that I don't know the real name for, but they call it little Joe, mums of all different colors and sedums, they have tall ones of all different colors, they have sedum ground cover also. There is such a wide range of fall color out there.
