It is understanding who and what you are and being satisfied with that. Once you can learn to love yourself, the world is your oyster! :)

I don't think there IS a meaning...not a universal one, anyway. I think we all should find our OWN meaning, purpose, beauty, joy, etc., in the world and people around us.

Some people NEED to feel that "everything happens for a reason", but I think it's just that they feel alone or confused. If they look around at the things they DO have and make contact with others and look inside themelves for what is good, then there's no reason to look for a large PURPOSE, handed down by some god or higher power.

I've been an agnostic since age 13 and I am quite content. I take comfort in nature, my child and spouse, my hobbies and studies and basically, IMO, that's all there is to it!

In the film, "Monty Python's The Meaning of Life", Michael Palin takes out a book toward the end and says something like, "And now, for the meaning of life. Hm, well, it's really very simple: Get in some walking, read a few good books, eat vegetables and try to be nice to people of all creeds and nations." He then tosses the book over his shoulder! LOL! I think that says it all.

The question "what is the meaning of life?" means different things to different people. The vagueness of the query is inherent in the word "meaning", which opens the question to many interpretations, such as: "What is the origin of life?", "What is the nature of life (and of the universe in which we live)?", "What is the significance of life?", "What is valuable in life?", and "What is the purpose of, or in, (one's) life?". These questions have resulted in a wide range of competing answers and arguments, from scientific theories, to philosophical, theological, and spiritual explanations.

To me the meaning of life has partly to do with helping others out when you can. Show the spirit of life in you to others. Do unto others as you would have done to you. Being the best you can be. It is OK to make mistakes as we learn from them.

Life is the characteristic state of organisms. Properties common to terrestrial organisms (plants, animals, fungi, protists and bacteria) are that they are cellular, carbon-and-water-based with complex organization, having a metabolism, a capacity to grow, respond to stimuli, reproduce and—through natural selection—adapt.
