Other sports don't have room for so much advertising. They are driving a big blank canvas. Its ok to not be a fan of cars going in circles. But companies have proven studies showing fans driver loyalties make them big bucks. Jimmy Johnson fans (Lowe's) hate to give home depot (tony Stewart) their business.Jr fans won't drink Miller. Like it or not its capitalism at its purest . And they make the coolest commercials

Advertising is a part of the deal. Nascar would not be the sport it is today without corporate sponsorship.
I disagree about the corporate advertising and other sports. Take one game of football. The Super Bowl to be specific. Advertisers are more than willing to spend a minimum of $30,000 for a 30 second add.
Just about every sport utilizes corporate sponsorship. How do you think that the stars can make multi-million $ deals when they are hired by teams? Corporations pay for a lot of this. It's just more behind the scenes, it's not as in-your-face as Nascar.

Gee, how about if you sponsor a nascar racer, buy his car, pay his mechanics, for the fuel, the maintenence, pay the driver, and then say, No no, you don't need to put my picture on your car or your suit. I don't want anyone to know how generous I am and that the only reason you can race is because I am funding you..
Artform? You view auto racing as an artform? It is a very very expensive project, they want to win. To win you have to have the latest and greatest technology in your machine, the best training, the best support crew, mechanics etc etc etc... you think you can get the best without any cost? Good luck.

What a laugh..other sports are chock-full of commercials for all kinds of products...ever watch an NFL game lately? Look at the Super Bowl. And consider the FACT that many stadiums nowadays bear the names of corporations. And it's not just the individual drivers who get the sponsorship, dumba**, the TEAM is sponsored by the corporations!
BTW F1 cars/teams/drivers also have major sponsorship. Same for NHRA drag racing and monster truck racing, truck owners have deals with Ford, Dodge, and Chevy which provide them with support because certain monster truck owners use their trucks as a base for their machines!(Good example is Bob Chandler's BIGFOOT trucks and Ford!)
Who are you, anyway, to tell NASCAR how to run their sport? Or criticize what you obviously have NO idea about?
Go b*tch and moan all you want. NASCAR will always be here. And I will always be a fan. H*ll yeah.

I think all sports players are doing this now... They need sponsors and contracts obligate them to advertise whenever possible. I think you'll find the same stuff goes on with other sports and not just NASCAR... However Jeff Gordon does get a little to into the sponsor thing... He's annoying...

Have you noticed that ALL forms of racing use sponsors? Did you notice that most sports arenas are now owned by corporations so they get free advertising when the name is mentioned? Wake up and see how the real world works and if you don't like the logos, watch something else!

If it wasn't for the corporations that sponsor the drivers and their teams there would not be a Nascar!! The sponsors are the people who pay the drivers, they pay for the teams to be able to build the engines, cars, chassis, etc.
Look at how the other sports are now. Look at the NBA, MLB, NFL, Tennis, etc. all of them use sponsors. How come you are not calling out the other sports for using sponsors. If I'm not mistaken a number of athletes have their own tennis shoes and guess what...SPONORS GIVE THEM MONEY FOR THAT!!
Do you know how much it costs to build a engine? It costs those teams $50,000 to build a engine. Do you know how much it costs for one team to race in the Cup series for an entire season? $20 million dollars for one damn year and guess who gives those teams that money...THE DAMN SPONSORS!!
Do you even know Nascar? The drivers are not selling their souls to their sponsors nor are they selling their bodies. If it wasn't for those sponsors we wouldn't know a number of those drivers!!

It's not disgusting. Do the drivers have some type of honor or dignity that would prevent them from doing so? Are they a special people with a special sport that are so above everyone that they need to maintain that exclusivity? No, because...
They drive in circles 500 times!!! That's what they do. They have no leg to stand on in terms of integrity. They're not even athletes. They use resources, pollute and cause deaths in order to drive in a circle.
It's a business like all others. Don't elevate them or their...well, it's not a sport and their not athletes, so, it's a game, like chess without the brain activity.

NASCAR was 50 years ahead of it's time. have you not noticed the nike and reebok logos on football uniforms now? and there are no more 'candlestick parks', or 'tiger stadiums'. and don't players in the sugar bowl wear nokia logos on their uniforms? all the stadiums and bowl games having corpoate names are just the beginning. the stick and ball sports are just starting to get it. just in the last 8-10 years they are starting to realize that corporate sponsorships and sports go together like eggs and bacon. NASCAR realized this 50 years earlier. so stop hatin', you loser
