my dad and my mum both have stupid old nokia phones. i was trying to explain to them about the latest models and features, but they don't seem to understand anything about them, and yet they have so much money. i already have a latest LG one blutooth, but they tend to be stubborn about it. what can i do to make them buy a good new one, at least a bit old-fashioned type. everyone outside is staring at their phones as if....u know.

Perhaps they are very comfortable with the phones they have. And if they do, SO WHAT!?!? It's not really any of your business.

Bravo for your parents. If it isn't broke, don't fix it. All the eye candy bells and whistles are great for those fascinated by them. But a good standard phone is just fine if what you want to do is call someone. Look at your parents as examples of people who know who they are and what they want and aren't easily swayed by others and what's "fashionable." Learning to be your own person and to shrug off the goofy looks on others faces takes time. Be glad your parents aren't that shallow that they let others dictate their lives.

I think your folks may only need it for emergencies and basic communication and not necessarily to make social calls as teens and younger people do. If they are comfortable with their dinosour and works fine for them, leave them alone. If it bothers you that much, buy them a newer model yourself.
