When I was in Iraq for a deployment before I got out of the US Army last year I bought a 2001 Dodge Durango on eBay... during I think it was Hurricane "Charlie" and the other couple hurricanes in September/October from a seller in Florida just North of Miami. It arrived on time and still runs fine, only had 34000 miles on it when I bought it, now it's closing in on 50k. Anyways, it's a good website for buying, but selling on there isn't worth it... WAY too many fees and BS charges. If you're interested in buying/selling just DVD's, CD's and video games I suggest BarterBee.com... it's awesome.

Depends if your buying or selling...buyer beware, lots of scams abound and lots of new users (newbies) who often cause more bother than they are worth for sellers.

Best thing to do is register for an account and watch things you may be interested in on your ebay....that way you can build up a picture of what is a good price etc and make yourself familiar with the overall layout of ebay and how to avoid getting the dross in your searches etc...
Check sellers feedbacks.

Simple example, I sold 2 1960 Scalextric racing cars one working one not working for £150 and charged postage to Spain. I was very happy and the buyer was over the moon.
Remember "One mans junk is another mans treasure" and you will see what is so good about eBay

to be honest, theres nothing brilliant about e-bay,the reason users go on about it is when you start selling on it,you can make a amazing amount of money, and it gets a hold on you,but as with anything that has a adictive element to it,it can actually start affecting your life
i have heard of people skipping work to stay at home selling stuff on e-bay,and even people taking loans out,and lending money to buy goods on the site
e-bay is a good site, and like alcohol,it is ok in moderation, but in excess its adictive

I can sell obscure items at a very good price and can become aware of the market value of just about anything.

You can find things that you otherwise cant find in stores...
Sometimes things are cheaper too...(although shipping costs might be a bit of a pain.)
