It will stop all wars and most of the conflicts, won't it?

It would be local (current nations) government arguing over every little thing and the Western World will not give up their lifestyle to give to third world countries. Basically, it would be the same as it is now.

It really depends on how that government comes about. Currently a global government under the control of transnational corporations seems to exist. Individual nations, even our own, pretty much are doing the bidding of international business interests. This sort of government, corporate government, is also known as fascism. It may be efficient, but at the expense of humanity. Hitler was efficient you know.

If you are wondering why it seems our own government can't really seem to function in the national interest anymore, why we are fighting wars that don't really seem to have to do with our real national security, why we have no rational environmental policies, why our national infrastructure is decaying and no one is doing anything to fix it, well this is not the concern of the transnationals. Our tax dollars go to their pockets, and we do not really benefit from it.

The only sort of global government that could benefit all the people of the planet would have to be more open and democratic. It is not likely to happen as long as people labor under the illusion that they still have or even need national identity.

The only hope is that information will become truly global, and that people will stop thinking that what matters is what country they live in, but rather that we all pull together as citizens of the world.

This never gets discussed much, and there's a lot of fear of loss of national identity, so I am not particularly hopeful.

Pretty much I think we are living under a secret global government already, and it is not a good one.

Can you imagine the conflict involved trying to elect a worldwide government? Who would be in charge? No matter who is in charge, there would always be someone unhappy. I think the world is moving away from the global government idea. Every country has people who want to break away from their country and form their own state. It would never work, not matter how romantic it seems.

Unfortunately individual countries have problems governing themselves usually because political ambition, greed, corruption etc. While world government is a good idea it's probably 200 years before its time. For the moment it would be nice to think that sometime in the nearer future we could have a UN that could solve international problems.

You've got to be joking!! Look at how the UN performs now!!! THAT is an example of a world organization. Has the UN stopped or prevented any wars?

What a joke.. stop all wars? People will still be killing each other. It would simply make the Representatives be farther away from the people and make things worse

it might not solve all of them, but it would make it a heck of alot easier to work with them. the biggest hang up in solving them is all the formalities of government.

Better than it is now, but everyone would have their own agendas and allegiances so it would be very bureaucratic.
