You can go to your town's courthouse and ask them what department you can research this. All of this stuff is public knowlege - you just have to do a little digging to get the answer.

I remember seeing a program about these kind of occurences - and you might want to do some research on ghosts and how to "get rid of them". Usually they do not know they are dead - they are stuck in limbo and need to be told they are dead so that they can rest in peace. But I wouldn't do anything unless you research it first!! Definately research this one - it's kinda creepy.

there are a lot of different ways to try an accomplish this, most of it relies upon the escrow and property history. If you own the house, you know exactly what a hassle it is to actually buy the house. The title company is the only aspect of buying a house or property that is federally mandated and must adhere to a series of instrumental functions to prove the house or property you are buying is legally allowable to be bought...(ie no liens, someone else doesn't really own it, you're being short changed)

When the house is purchased, the Escrow department has to go back some amount of ways to prove the sellability of the house and surrounding property sometimes all the way back to the colonial period when the property was claimed by the countries that settled it.

(there is one funny story about a piece of property in Lousiana that the proper sanctions were followed but the property history only went back to 1803 and the property was denied until further inquiries were answered. Lousiana, as history dictates was purchased by America from the French in 1803, with no survivalble contracts of deeds passed over. In an effort to truly do their job, the Escrow officer had to prove the property was part of the Lousiana Purchase, from France and then subsequently the French Empire acquired the property from an expedition that was sanctioned from the Pope and subsequently, since the Pope was an emissary of God, the property was originally owned by God...that was a lot of work, but certainly showed that the people questioning the facts were doing too good of a job...at their job)

The facts can be traced, but once it's traced, there is a lot of research another individual has to do to ascertain the singular history of the property. It is all information one can get from the local area courthouse in public record and obituary listings for the local community, but if you are interested in not doing the work for yourself....I would contact the local clerk of court for land and title documents as well as the clerk of court in regards to public documents and see what the crossover information is. You may actually have to pay some money to access the public record, since these were filed in a courthouse for posterity's sake.

Call them...it's their jobs to answer legal questions regarding public documents.

yes . ask the neighbors that have lived there the longest about it. a cross check of the cities newspaper obits and your address from city hall.. The only other way is to find out if it was built on a amrid burailground. or was the site of a battle. That only leaves the odd traveler or hunter that may have died on the land that would not be posted anywhere.

Turn your computer off at night & see if that helps.
If not maybe the ghost is trying to tell you something, put up a blank page (like open office or note pad) see what has been written on it the next morning.
Or, just tell the ghost to go home, "say your dead, go home"
Hope this helps.

You could ask your neighbors, some of them would know who lived in your house earlier. Also, think of another possibility, it could be a spirit, I mean your grandma or grandpa, somebody who loved you when she/he was alive and now is by you, protecting you and your daughter. Anyway, pray for that soul, ask God to give peace to that soul and to give you answers.

ask a neighbor about the history of your house... My 90 year old neighbor knew everyone who lived in my house for the past 60 years... she told me that someone had committed suicide in my house. I was different than you though- I didn't want to know the details- she just blurted it out- I wish I didn't know.
