I'd focus on HER for the gift since she's your best friend. How about offering to watch the baby for a couple of hours (in her home is fine) so she can take a nap. Do the laundry and fix dinner for her while you're there.

How about a coupon for a day spa where she can take her pick of what service she'd like to receive? Choices are generally haircut, massage, manicure, pedicure, facial, etc. This way she gets pampered with exactly what she's feeling the need for that day.

She might enjoy a giftcard for a clothing store. The maternity clothes aren't appropriate any more and it might be a while before she can fit into her pre-pregnancy clothes, so a new outfit that makes her feel better and prettier might be just the thing!

I reckon the best gifts are those that concentrate on the mum - after all she's been through a lot - everyone else will be getting the baby stuff.

If she had a natural birth there's a really good kit you can get called A Little Something for Mum's Sore Bottom, which has all sorts of lotions and potions to help with her recovery. I really wish I'd got this when I had mine.

Or if you want to get both mum and baby something you can get baby clothes bouquets which look like a bunch of flowers but are little baby socks rolled up. Something for both of them!

Hope this helps!

More people should buy a gift for the mum as everything is so focused on the baby leaving mum out who has done all the hard work bringing this baby into the world and will continue with the hard work
I'm sure with you being such a good and thought-full friend you know exactly what to get her

Defiantly diapers specifically if their funds are low. My brothers friend and his wife had a baby last November. They got like a pile of diapers and they were like “This will last us 2 years” Um no they lasted maybe a month and ½ they aren’t the smart of parents I feel so bad for their daughter.

If you want to get something more personnel for your friend as someone have suggest a spa day at somewhere might be nice. or just coming over to help her out around the house. You could fix some prepared dinners that she just has to put in the oven to warm up or something.

Vicky, this young lady is your best mate so she will be chuffed with anything you buy!!! You could do a baby basket with nappies, Sudocreme nappy bags, baby bath stuff and baby powder, that would come in handy!! Baby clothes in 3-6 months are good 'cause most people buy 0-3 months gear for the baby. Maybe a bar of choccy or a little token for her would be nice. Like I said she will be made up that her best friend got a present for her new baby!!!

Whatever you buy make sure it's something for your friend and not her baby.. Most people will be buying things for the child. Why not treat her to a little pampering when the child goes to bed one evening. Beauty treatments will make her feel wonderful again after the stress of giving birth. Facials, essential oils, candles can all be accompanied by a glass or two of wine. (remembering of course that the baby is upstairs). Have a good time whatever you decide. and congratulations to your friend from me

Do something nice for her. You could get her a housekeeper for a day to clean her house or get her a massage type of thing at a spa. Pamper her--I'm sure she's probably stressed out. Or you can offer to keep her baby for a little while so that she and her mate can go out on a date and have adult time together. You sound like a nice friend. Good luck!

Some cosmetics and beauty products are a good gift so she will be able to pamper herself whilst the baby sleeps, it's great if you and a couple of good girl friends come round and do girly stuff with her.

Give her something just for her - there will be plenty of fussing over the baby. Give her something she likes that she can indulge in. Particularly nice is spa stuff either for her to use at home or some treatments at a beauty spa where she can have massage or aromatherapy etc.

She is going to have many many years of putting her child first so it will be nice if you put her first.

Why don't you get something for mom, A gift certificate for a massage and babysitting services. After I had my babbies there was nothing better sounding than to get rubbed down or to sit in a whirlpool bath.
