Mental hell and Mental health... saying it aloud and there's only the difference of a whisper. Walk a mile the other way, in the footsteps (they often don't have shoes) of the "mad" and you'll soon change your mind. One problem is, they're not fully "gone" and as such, suffer much the same as people who are "sane."
Didn't want to give the moral downlow here, but I've worked with the homeless and many are mentally deficient and really do need better conditions in their life. Legislation has ruined that possibility for them.

Not really. I have worked in the mental health field for years. Generally they are very tortured people. Often they are abused, many are homeless and eat garbage. They hide in fear. No I don't think that is a better life.

as a madman, i'm going to have to say you haven't given this (perhaps anything) much thought. does the word, "mad", conjure up happy thoughts? to you. when you, "get mad", are you pleased? there's a reason it's called madness, or, more generally, in the twenty first century, "mental ILLNESS". i have lots of worries. i suspect i have more worries than you've ever conceived.

Thankfully I don't know; they certainly have different lives. I think it depends on what their problem is and the fact that a quality of life may mean something to you and I but something totally different to them. It's like (and I mean no offence to anyone) I could have had a much more active sex life had I been prepared to lower my standards, I chose not to. I could have led a simpler life (intellectually) had I not studied philosophy, I chose not to. Simple things bring simple pleasure to simple people you cannot condemn them simply because they are seemingly content with less. Unfortunately many wont know what more is.

No, not at all. Madness isn't fun. If you think it is, try reading "The Eden Express."
It's a descent into a private hell.

No I don't think that at all. How could anyone? And if you're envious of them, then you are in serious trouble and could probably use some professional help yourself. Sorry, but you asked, and your smug attitude is very offensive.
