Okay, I'm the lawyer for the hospital for this case in one of my classes... I think I already know the outcome of it because of a similar case but I need help with the technacalities. Please, this is a major grade!
Okay. So it's a case of a 15 year old boy who is facing a third liver transplant operation. Joe was born jaundiced with an enlarged liver and spleen. Dr. Jane performed Joe's first liver transplant in 1897 when Joe was 8. After the 1st transplant failed, she did a second liver transplant operation in June 1992. He was given immunosupressant drugs-- FK506-- and he suffered irritability and depression.
So he began cutting back on the drugs and stopped it altogether. His mom was reported for child abuse and he was rushed to the hospital. He refused to give blood or submit to examinations and checks for vital signs.
So I have to be the person who wants him to continue his meds... any help appreciated!

The mom is in jail for negligence because she didn't make him take his meds. He's underage and therefore the hospital takes it upon themselves to give him treatment... he refuses it because he says it makes him feel worse.

First of all, the hospital administration isn't going to worry if he continues his meds. The hospital just needs to tell him that if he doesn't, his liver will fail. That's as far as the hospital needs to go.

However, they can recommend that he see a mental health professional, preferably not associated with the hospital. They can make this recommendation via proper justice system channels.

The hospital needs to distance themselves from this individual.

He needs to obtain help from another source. The hospital has done all they can.

If he had his first transplant in 1897, and did not need a second transplant until June of 1992, I think .....
1. His mother is VERY old.
2. He is old enough to decide for himself.
3. Where do I get one of these transplants?

the boy was going through depression so maybe since his mother is in jail for child abuse and no other relative wants to be in charge of the child well being. you could argue that the hospital should have the right to continue the meds until the mother is in the state of mind to take care of him or a family member takes care of him. until then the hospital should continue the meds.

William Henry Harrison, he did no longer have time to do something as president because of the fact for his inauguration he made a ridiculously long speech in freezing chilly wether, have been given sick and died a month later. i'm particular that Bush is definitely no longer even near to being seen the worst presidents ever in approximately a hundred years while all the Bush haters ( and fanatics) are lifeless and historians would be those to decide who became the worst. I additionally am particular that maximum individuals have not have been given any clue who William Henry Harrison became or who any of the presidents have been between Andrew Jackson and Abraham Lincoln.

His mom is in jail, but you don't say where his father is. His father should be the one making decisions. If the father is out of the picture & the mother is in jail, then the hospital, ie, you, should petition the court to appoint a guardian to represent the child's interests. The child's parent -- if he exists -- or his court appointed guardian can if necessary request the court direct the hospital to administer medication -- even by by force -- if necessary.
