Check out the "Dodgeball" dvd. In it, there is the original ending. In the final game of the tournament, Vince Vaughn gets nailed by a ball thrown by Ben Stiller's character. Ben Stiller's character cheers, you see Vaughn's stunnded reaction for a half second, then bam- roll credits. To me, that would have been such a great ending - but of course, just like an asian massage, everyone wants a happy ending. So they re-filmed a happier ending where Team Average Joe wins the tournament. I think it would have been much funnier with the original ending.

Great question. Well it remains to be seen if Harry Potter will still be alive at the end of the 7th book/7th movie.

West Side Story is an example where one of the heroes is defeated at the end.

Hmm
In west side story and Romeo and Julietm no villian wins, but no hero wins, either.

Ryu gets his *** handed to him at the end of Fist of the North Star. John Trivolta gets away at the end of Swordfish. The bad guy gets away in Saw.

Carlito's Way . . . . . great friggin movie . . . . . . Al Pacino and Sean Penn (looking pretty odd)

I think it may be a little grey in terms of defining "good guy" . . . . kind of a relative term. Anyway, if you never saw it, I think it's one of his best all time movie (ok, not quite Godfather, but it is quite a great movie!)

Some of Stephen King's stories end that way, such as the Shining and Pet Cemetery
