The only question I've ever ASKED on here was about squirrels eating my garden tomatoes. My poor husband has been fighting them all season. We were suspicious at first that it was raccoons or the rabbits we saw scampering across the yard, but one day my daughter SAW a squirrel running across the yard with a tomato in its mouth. It's been a battle!

We've used dried fox urine... we've used dried deer blood... we've used a pepper spray that's supposed to deter them but I think they just think it's salad dressing or something - lol

The only thing we've found that works so far is this draping mesh that you can get at a garden center or hardware store. There are a few areas where they're still able to get access, but at least we've finally got more tomatoes than the critters do!

Good luck to you! (I told my husband that these are suburban squirrels and they don't know what fox and deer ARE, so why would they be afraid of their bodily fluids - lol Also that our tomatoes are going to wind up having cost about $486/lb) :)

We have the same problem, Ive had my garden for at least 20 years and never had anything eat the green or red tomatoes. They are also eating the leaving on the plants. I tryed putting moth balls around the plants, it's help a bit... I know how you feel. Im say squirls,, but really think its the rabbits that come out at nite.

Are the tomatoes near the ground? It could be a rabbit. Turtles also especially love tomatoes and will eat the most tasty parts (or the parts they can reach!) and then move on. Also mice will eat parts of tomatoes then run off if they get spooked.

We had that problem! If it wasn't my 3 yearold daughter, it was either the neighborhood racoon or woodchuck. We had both.
