I live in Pennsylvania. If all they see is PA, they will not know how to spell they state. What about Massechusetts (is that correct?).

I agree the children should be taught to spell out their state, as well as their last name..

First things children should be taught is to spell name and full address including state and their phone number

Yes, I think so too...However, I believe they learn the states names in a vocabulary list, usually...in about second/third grade.

This is a minor thing though..to me anyway.
I feel they should be teaching things like respect, tolerance, and acceptance, and success and equality, and friendship, and peace, and social relations, and leadership, and awareness, and selflessness, anti-depression & self-love and love for others............these are things they should "Really" be teaching from as early as pre-school...then maybe the next generations wouldn't be so anxious to kill eachother off.

It's spelled Massachusetts. Seems like we need to teach the parents, too.

Actually, you can do a lot with a spell checker these days...

From what I see on this people should be taught to spell everything - the general standard is disgusting. America seems to be turning into a nation of illiterates.

massachusetts ( i think ) ... google it

I don't see the need, since a lot of public education systems focus some of their time on state education; they will have plenty of time to learn it then.

No, don't teach them. Ignorance builds the much vaunted self-esteem we're all supposed to have in abundance.
