There's no harm but just be sure that you don't have any shared folders though.
Regarding sharing, I think it's ok. Remember that "MOST" hotspots are OPEN (meaning you can surf without passwords). In Airports, and food chains like McDonalds, where you can surf while eating. And they are LEGAL too (otherwise they will be the one to stop this because they are big companies and they KNOW BETTER).
Moreover, you might even earn as a hotspot! (see link).
If your neighbor is hacker, you can pinpoint them immediately and easily. Hackers will probably hack through OPEN hotspots where they cannot recognize or know them or better still they will go to Internet cafes instead...

Depends, it possible that if your neighbors computer has a virus, that it could spread onto the network and harm your computer and vice verse. Also say your neighbor is downloading a ton of songs or other files, that can cause the internet to be slow for you.
And it's unlikely he will get a good signal, from his house to yours.
So do it at your own risk.

there is no harm in sharing the wireless network with your neighbour (if he is trusty).
An ordinary router for home use can support 32 wireless clients.
now with 3 wless computers the reduction in speed will be negligible.i have set routers with upto 5-7 wireless computers.so if your router is a good brand like Linksys, D Link, Netgear , SMC or etc, you will not have any problems in speed.
Another issue that can come with sharing internet is , if your neighbour is a hacker or using internet for some illegal purposes , you will end up being caught...
thats it..

the only harm will be the reduction in speed on the network, if you dont care about the speed of your network then it wont matter to you, ethernet is the best connection to insure that you are getting the best speed out of your internet, alot of people dont know, but wireless slows the network down

It is not legal, to share your network with your neighbor. Are they paying your service provider? It is just like when people used to steal cable from there neighbors. If you get caught, (which you probably will), you will be liable for the services that your neighbor is stealing, from you. I know they are not actually "stealing" from you, but your service provider frowns on this type of activity.

Should your neighbor decide to download music, movies, etc., and the "music police" trace him, they would trace it to YOUR connection and you would be legally responsible for anything they did not your connection. Same with child porn, should he harass someone in e-mail, spam, phish, hack, etc. Anything they do will be traced back to you.

Plus, it is called "theft of services". Should your ISP discover that you are sharing the connection (and cheating them out of the fees they should be getting from your neighbor) you can be fined or imprisoned for theft of services. It is illegal to allow someone else to use your connection from outside your home. (I didn't make or approve of the law, I am just stating it)
Not a smart thing to do. In my position working in the computer IT business, I see regular examples of people getting in trouble because they share their Internet connections.
