Beta Fish are awsome. I have one named Rainbow. They cannot be put together so only have one. They can't eat that much either, only give them two flakes every other day. If you use pellets, give 5 every other day. Thanks. You can contact me, or just come to my house since you are my BFF.

Well don't put 2 males or 2 females together.Get one.Since they have to be alone be sure to get a plant or two.there can be many colours of beta fish.yellow, blue, purple even red.The names Beta Fish, Fighting Beta Fish, and Siamese Beta Fish are often seen. But Beta is a misspelling of Betta, which is a word that comes from the scientific name Betta splendens. When feeding a betta fish be careful cause take your time.I have had 3 betta fish and one of them i got 10 years ago and it is still alive

It’s pretty depressing to walk down the aisles of a store that sells betta fish—otherwise known as Siamese fighting fish—who are confined to dirty bowls and vases. These tiny glass enclosures are hardly acceptable homes for bettas, who, in nature, swim in large ponds and streams. Sadly, many people buy betta fish because they think that they can “save them.” What they don’t realize is that this just creates a demand for them, so stores will just keep buying more and more fish, condemning them to miserable lives as a trinket or accessory in someone’s home.

• Betta fish do not have to be kept in “solitary confinement.” Females can live together, and males, who will fight with other male bettas, can nevertheless be placed singly in a “community” aquarium containing other species of fish.
• Betta fish are native to Asia, where they live in the shallow water of rice paddies, ponds, or slow-moving streams. Since the water is shallow, it is also warm, which is why betta fish in captivity require a sizable amount of water in an aquarium that can be kept heated to at least 75°F. Bettas require a minimum of 10 gallons of water, according to Gaddy Bergmann of the Department of Biology at the University of South Florida. Harro Hieronimus, chair of the German Livebearer Society and the International Rainbowfish Association, believes that fish must have a minimum volume of 13 gallons of water in an aquarium approximately 24 inches by 12 inches by 12 inches in size. His expert opinion has been translated into law in Germany.
• Plant roots do not provide adequate food for betta fish. Bettas are omnivorous; in nature, they eat mostly insects and insect larvae. A diet consisting of plant roots may keep them alive for awhile, but since it lacks the proper nutrients, the fish eventually become sick and die. A plant placed at the top of a vase may also restrict access that the fish needs in order to obtain oxygen, as bettas are known as “labyrinth fishes” and take their oxygen from the surface of the water.

They are tropical fish that are common in house aquariums. They are named after the second letter in the Greek Alphabet. They are simple fish and very easy to take care of.

very hearty - won't bother other fish, but some may nip at their fins and damage them - eat powdered food - hold a mirror up to them and they'll pose as they do before they fight - they are also siamese fighting fish
