For a USB drive, each computer will display it with a different drive letter. Your computer will automatically use the next available drive letter. However you can give it a name and that name will not change even when you use it with a different computer.
There are no system variables for USB drives that I know of...

There is no system variable for a USB drive. Unfortunately, it takes the next available letter whenever you plug it into a computer. So E on one machine and H on another.

And it really gets fun if the computer is using Novell rather than Windows Networking to connect to a network drive. USB devices do not recognize Novell drives, so if you have a CD drive and D and a Novell network drive on E, the USB will make itself E and disconnect the Novell drive

Bummer...

I don't believe there is, b/c on whatever PC you install the USB drive on, Windows in going to assign that drive the next available letter, for instance, my USB drive comes up as K. Just happens like that.

uhm, drive C: is static, contains all files and folders that kepp your pc running, and so it keeps it's name, and not shared by anything else, other drives that u plug to your computer are given other letters like drive g: or h: and so on....depending on how many USB's u plug!!
