The best over the counter treatment for acne is salicylic acid...
Most over the counter products contain about .05% to 2%...
To my knowledge, Neutrogena is the cheapest & only drug store product that comes in a topical. (There are some others but they are expensive & also contain Retinal A.)
You can also purchase cleansers & toners with salicylic acid....
They are good products to use to keep your face clean & free of acne.
To be honest... when it comes to skin products for acne & problem skin... I have found that AVON has the overall best to offer at very reasonable prices. (Unfortunately, you have to order those products & that takes a little time...)
Good Luck!

Hi, the underskin pimples are called cysts, they can stay there for ages.
Here are some definitions:
Papules: Papules are inflamed, red, tender bumps with no head. Do not squeeze a papule. It will do no good, and may exacerbate scarring. The Clear Skin Regimen provides a step-by-step program on how to treat papules.
Pustules: A pustule is similar to a whitehead, but is inflamed, and appears as a red circle with a white or yellow center. Pustules are your garden variety zit. Before you pop or squeeze such a lesion, be sure to read about how to pop a pimple. The Clear Skin Regimen provides a step-by-step program on how to treat pustules.
Severe acne vulgaris is characterized by nodules and cysts:
Nodules: As opposed to the lesions mentioned above, nodular acne consists of acne spots which are much larger, can be quite painful and can sometimes last for months. Nodules are large, hard bumps under the skin's surface. Scarring is common. Absolutely do not attempt to squeeze such a lesion. You may cause severe trauma to the skin and the lesion may last for months longer than it normally would. Dermatologists often have ways of lessening swelling and preventing scarring.
Cysts: An acne cyst can appear similar to a nodule, but is pus-filled, and has been described as having a diameter of 5mm or more across. They can be painful. Again, scarring is common with cystic acne. Squeezing an acne cyst may cause a deeper infection and more painful inflammation which will last much longer than if you had left it alone. Dermatologists often have ways of lessening swelling and preventing scarring.
If you ve got a cyst, dont touch it! You might be better off consulting your dermatologist who will pop it for you and prescribe you a good treatment. The treatments include topical antibiotics, which didnt work for me, or Roaccutane, which I am taking now, and already cleared up quite well.
Productwise, all of the suggested above sound good, They wont help that particular cyst though. I am a big fan of Neutrogena Clear Skin, it worked much better than Clinique for me, because Clinique has alcohol which is not for ever skin, some people's skins just get irritated. Neutrogena spot get has Benzoyl Peroxide, which is also found in many other products such as OxyGel, etc and is very good.

Underground!! Hehe, oh no not the dreaded underground pimple.
Well, I'd tell you to see a Dermatologist right away...but I have to wait 3 and 1/2 months every time I see mine lol. BUT MAKE AN APPOINTMENT ANYWAY IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ACNE.
I use Proactiv. You have to order it but it works really well. Not only does it get rid of pimples (even underground ones!) but it leaves your skin nice and soft and healthy.
Good luck! And don't wash your face too much, just try to keep it free of oil (that's what flares it up).

Try Stridex, but fold up a pad and hold it on the bump for about 4 or 5 minutes. It soaks into the pimple and starts to dry it up. Put some acne gel on it afterwards. If it gets worse, consider seeing a doctor. Trying to pop a pimple can cause a serious skin infection.

Hi,
I am a dermatologist by profession and within a careeer of 10 years I have seen lots of acne problems. According to me Red and white pimples are the worst and painful. Acneprone skin is very sensitive, even if you touch it once the redness will increase with itching. According to me there is no magical way to heal your pimples over night as this is the puffed part of your skin due to the bacteria.
In simple words try to improve your diet and have lots of water that helps in healingg process. Un-necessary oily food should be avoided to get a healthy spotless skin.

Leave it! You can put and topical anti-biotic cream on it. If it hurts and it's red it's probably infected. Clean the area first and apply cream. If you've already played with it. Well.... Don't anymore. Clinic has a wonder Gel called ACNE SPOT TREATMENT. It will help to dry it out.
If it does not help. See a dermatologist it could be a Cyst. Those can hurt too. And need to be drained.
Good luck.
