THEY all advertise on the net as FREE but they want you to SIGN UP for a 30 day free trial, give them your account details etc.IS THAT FREE??

you think that's bad try getting a free mousepad and end up paying $33 dollars for shipping and handling. it's only free when they pay and they almost never do that.

Can I be nosy and ask what type of software you are looking for? There is normally a great free version for most softwares. Try going on Download.com and once you have searched, change the license option to Free. These programs really are free. A few excellent free programs I use are CCleaner (a brilliant registry cleaner), The G.I.M.P (excellent image manipulation program), V.L.C (Media Player). The list is endless, You usually find open source applications are often better than options you pay for, and always have better support.

a free trial is free but they want your account details so that if you forget to cancel within the free period, they can charge you.
