Hi there. I just received a job offer and am going to start working next week. I am currently a "freelance artist" aka underpaid intern at an ad agency. I was never given an end date for employment, therefore, I am pretty much free to leave them without two weeks notice. What's th best way to notify an employer that you're leaving? I already informed them that I had started interviewing but they don't know I got the job (since I found out yesterday).

You should put it in writing (find a good template on Monster.com) and give your boss the copy after you verbally tell him/her that you have found another growth opportunity. Be sure to thank your boss for the experience. And definitely, leave with grace and dignity. Showing that you're mature enough to leave that way and that you're looking for an opportunity to do more will leave a good impression with that boss--always good for networking. Good luck with the new job!

say f*** you I quit!
Actually, just going in and telling them what has appened, and that you appreciate the time spent with them, should suffice. No one is required to give 2 weeks notice. If they were laying you off, I can guarantee you wouldn't get it. I'ts just considered polite. Good luck with the new job!

Just be nice and tell them the truth. Never burn bridges behind you, because someday you might have to cross it again.
