are their eyes open yet? if they are fully open and the hamsters are starting to run about thr cage then you cal hold them a long as you keepyour hand in the cage while you hold them as they are still very scared and still very jumpy so they will spring right out of your hand.

I just bought a hamster myself and I've done a lot of research on this.

You have two options;

Work slowly. First put your hand into the cage... let the hamster sniff your hand for awhile. Wait until the hamster gets used to your hands. After it does, try giving it a treat from your hands. Let it know that you're friendly by offering it food. Eventually, start petting it very softly. You want to take it very slowly. You don't want your hamster to get scared of you. Eventually, try holding your hand out in the cage, palm open... see if your hamster will walk up onto your hand by its own accord. Do this for awhile until it gets used to being in your hand. Eventually, you'll be able to take it out of the cage.

~or~

Let the hamster mature to the point where he/she is not so timid. Certain breeds of hamster will reach this stage faster than others. Clean its cage on a regular basis and it'll eventually get used to your presence. It will begin to "tolerate" you.

Either way, the key is being gentle and taking it slow. I know you want to hold your hamster, but it's important to make sure it wants that too.

I would wait. What happens when you hold a baby is the mother smells your scent on it. If it is still feeding from the mother, wait! My friend picked her hamster's babies up and she found the babies's heads ripped off! I know too gruesome but it's for the hamsters right? If they are not feeding off the mother, then go ahead I suppose.

You should wait about 7 weeks and 5 days. When you do hold them be very careful.

you're able to desire to not carry infant hamsters in the previous they're 2 weeks old considering could desire to alter the sent so the mother might think of that they weren't hers and abandon them. as quickly as they're 2 weeks old, you could carry them yet purely quickly sessions so which you do not rigidity the mother and confuse the babies.

Yes, carefully if the mother will not get upset. Handling them when young makes them more people friendly and better pets overall.
