1. to get remote assistance, you need to know someone who knows how to work on computers, say a brother of yours that lives out of state, remote assistance allows him to log into your computer and both see what you are doing, but he can take control to help resolve problems.

2. the default gateway, is the router, or computer that a. seperates you from the internet, b. helps route information between the internet and your local network, and c. typcically provides services to your local network to include DHCP, DNS, and PAT or NAT.

3. several things can be done, make sure you are cleaning off spyware, adware, and viruses. if you are on a cable highspeed service you need to realize that cable is shared access, so even tho the cable company claims they are pushing out 8 meg service, if you plus three other homes are hooked up to the same pole, and all four of you are running at the same time, each of you are only getting 2 meg. and finally restart the computer.

4. port forwarding is set in your router, the most basic use is so when someone is trying to use a particular program to gain access to a specific computer, it lets the router know where to direct the traffic.
