I have a problem with burping too. My husband hates it and thinks I do it on purpose. I have since found out that it is due to my reflux disease which lead to my barrett's esophagus.
I KNEW there was a reason this was happening.
Please be understanding with him, he can't help it and he certainly can't hold the gas in, that will only make him worse with the trapped gas and all.

You are getting some good advice here.
Some people can do it as and when they like but it is not too smart as they can be building up problems for the future.
He could have stomach ulcers or reflux or trapped wind. Before starting to take antacids he really should talk it over with his GP. Simple tests and a change of diet could resolve it or put him on to the road of recovery.

You can tell him you love him anyway and send him to burpers annonymous where he will learn that burping is not something that he can help, however over time with the support of other burpers around him he will learn to stop burping and instead to fart with pride and confidence like every red blooded male should,

You say "always" so I presume it doesn't follow ingestion of food & drink? I agree, stay away from carbonated & caffeinated beverages......dairy products and perhaps spicy foods & raw veggies. You might want to experiment to see if any one item provokes an episode. My husband used to take charcol tablets for this and it helped. You might want to try chewable "Papaya Enzyme" tablets too. Is he in pain? Is he "regular" or constipated? Has he seen a doctor? It might be a medical issue? It also might be an attention-getting ploy deeply rooted in a childhood issue

Seriously he needs to see a doctor and a dentist if his burps are that bad. Foul burps can be signs of gastroentestinal problems. Gum disease can also cause foul oders.

Yes maybe reduce the intake of carbonated beverages. Ever since I did that, I rarely burp.
