I live in a large city where there are many homeless people. I rent my front bedroom (at a minimal cost) to one of those people at a time so they can get rested/cleaned up and have good, hot meals while they look for work (hard to find a job when you don't have access to a shower!). In each case these people have found at least one job (one person found two!) and then have moved out to their own apartments. I wait until I find another person who has no home, but who wants to better him/herself.
I've had mixed luck, but it has been a rewarding thing to do. I've met many people who have just run onto bad luck and their lives went from good to bad nearly overnight (usually due to the loss of their job and medical benefits). I used to work as a rehab specialist and am now retired, but use my resource background to assist with locating free medical help, free food and finding a job that fits their skills and abilities.
It's a lot of fun to be retired and have the time to help out where I can!

Making a difference in someone's life takes the smallest effort. It could be a smile or a look or a simple hello. I make every effort to practice those things I've been taught to make the difference to someone. Therefore, I do those things, plus if I see a lady whose car is broken down, I will stop to help. I also help financially when someone is struggling. If someone is in front of me in the grocery store, and they come up short on paying, I will pay what they don't have. I am courteous when driving to let someone pass or to come into heavy traffick from a parking lot. If I think "what can I do to make a diffence" it just comes so easily.

I spend alot of time trying to find help and therapy for my son so he may have a better chance than he will without help. I may even be able to eventually make it so he can openly communicate with the world. that is my entire goal in life. is giving him comfort and a voice

My husband tells me often what a difference I have made in his life. I don't know what I've done, but it's made him happy.
