I am 9 weeks Pregant and already have had two miscarrages ( so I am a little scared). I Went to the Dr 2 week ago and seen the baby heartbeat through a sonagram! I went back yesterday and the Dr could not hear it through a Doppler. He told me that is was still a little early, so we should give it some time. He seems to think everything is alright. Lord I hope so!

With my first daughter, I could hear it with the doppler at about 8 weeks, but with my second, we couldn't hear it until about 12 weeks. I had had a previous miscarriage before my first child, so I was also extra cautious and had ultrasounds as soon as I knew I was pregnant again. The second daughter scared me when we couldn't hear the heartbeat until 12 weeks, but she turned out just fine. As long as the heartbeat can still be registered on the ultrasound or monitor, don't worry. Us pregnant moms have enough to worry about anyway! : ) Good luck with your pregnancy and congrats!

So sorry for your loss, I was there as well in April and am now 9 weeks, 2 days. At 6 weeks, 0 days, we saw the heartbeat on the ultrasound and this past Thursday, so 9 weeks, 0 days, doctor heard the heartbeat super strong on the doppler, but she was surprised to hear it so well so easily...normally on a doctor's doppler, between 10 and 11 weeks is the norm. I just ordered a fancy fetal doppler called HIBEBE but I won't probably try it until 12 weeks so I don't freak myself out if I can't hear the heartbeat. good luck to you! Call your doctor on Tuesday and tell him that either he can schedule you for an ultrasound to make sure everything's ok or you're coming in to his office to use his doppler every day. Demand what you want! If you don't want to do that, you could go to the ER complaining of whatever you want and they will always do an ultrasound. (Kind of sneaky but you'll get your answer immediately)

Week Five
First heartbeats begin - If you have an early ultrasound you may not be able to recognize this tiny being as a baby, but there is no mistaking what it feels like seeing your child's heartbeat on that screen. That rhythmic beat is echoed in your own heart.

usually 8 to 10 weeks although it starts beating before around 5 or 6.

After 12 weeks, but this also depends on your body size too. If the person is a bigger girl then it takes longer due to her size, they ususally will do an internal ultrasound then to ensure the baby is viable.
