Yes, a gigabyte(GB) is approximately a thousand times larger than a megabyte(GB).
1TB = 1024 GB (TB = terrabyte)
1GB = 1024 MB
1MB = 1024 KB (KB = kilobyte)
A floppy holds 1.44MB whilst modern harddrives hold anything from 20GB to 500GB.

normally:
giga is a prefix for 1,000,000,000
mega is a prefix for 1,000,000
Kilo is a prefix for 1,000
in computer terms, as bytes are expressed as a binary number
kiloytes means 2 ^10 (2 to the power 10) this is 1,024 bytes
megabytes means 2^20 or 1024 x 1024
gigabytes means 2^30 or 1024 x 1024 x 1024

Yes. Gigabyte and megabyte are jargon of computers. We use these words to measure storage capacity. Giga means billion and mega means million. Byte means 1 character like for example; happyperson is equivalent to 11 bytes or 11 characters. Characters can be letters, numbers, spaces, symbols, etc. that takes space for storage.
