How much do you spend on maintainence for every year?
I'm planing to get a mini cooper S, but I heard some bad things about it. So can anyone share the experience with me? Thanks

I have an 05' MCSa its great! It is a little quirky at times. Potholes are really bad news, having a low profile tire(s) can allow the rims/tires and suspension to get damaged pretty easily. Stay away from potholes! Other than that, its just little quirky things that pop here and there. Stereo/dashboard rattle etc. that can be easily fixed by the dealership. Maintenance wise I've paid for nothing its covered for three years, I opted for the additional years as well. I love my car, I mean really I drive the Blue Mini from the Italian Job, how cool is that? One more thing racing stripes apparently stick out to passing police officers, be careful of that as well. Let me know if you have any questions about your car? :)

Hi, I have an '06 Mini S Convertible (and love it). Yes, the police like our stripes but when they pull alongside me and see a blonde woman, no ticket. :) As far as maintenance is concerned, I have had no issues, and when I do, it will be the dealer (free for 1st 3 years). It requires premium gas ... a nice little thing to know when gas prices are climbing.

I love my S. You see, I adore torque and the ability to corner well. We have some great mountain roads in my part of the country, and zipping along them pulling some major Gs is quite a thrill. I have an Integra, too, but it does not have the sport suspension to be able to pull off the zigzags and inclines associated with this type of driving.

As far as getting one, go drive it. Put it through its paces. I did 70 in 3rd gear and was plum astonished to find there's a sixth gear on manual transmissions ... how will I ever achieve the speed to make the gears happy? It's a great car ...

Great, they ddid a remake for 07, it is bigger, with six airbags. The S ads 55 horsepower. Although the cooper works is not going to be made it should be back for 08.
This years model should get around 30 mpg in the city and around 38 on the highway.

More fun to drive than my vett. 72 . Can actualy wind the gears up, lucky no police about when I hit 5500 in fouth gear, runs on rail tracks. turns whenever you think about it. Have had no trouble with police, (the vett gets 1500 miles per stop, but only get warnings for 71, etc.) but live in west texas where plenty of empty roads to run on. Bad news is oil change will not be done at oil change center only at dealers.
