Martin Luther King Jr. fought for his rights and he wasn't considered a terrorist. Neither was Ceasar Chavez. A terrorist is someone who bullies and harms innocent people as a way to be seen or heard. It has nothing to do with fighting for one's rights and everything to do with violence.

Terrorism is about terrifying. Terrorists typically are terrorizing civilians who are not the ones doing the oppression.
There are many ways to fight for rights without terrorizing civilians. For example, peaceful protest (Gandhi, Martin Luther King...), diplomacy, and so forth. These are much more successful approaches than random attacks on innocents, especially when your oppressor is more powerful.

A terrorist is someone who uses guns to acheive political ends. Not everyone who fights for rights uses this way.
