I just had a miscarriage and I was about 5 weeks along. I'm just wodnering about a few things. I only heavily bled for about 2 days, then the rest was very light and brown. In total I was bleeding for 5 days, but the 5th day almost couldnt count. Is that normal? I havnt had any pain at all, it just felt like my regular period only shorter. Just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences or not, I've talked to the doctor but want to hear from real women that have gone through it. Thanks!!

I am so sorry for your loss. For me, it was physically painful, but about as painful as my period, at some times, it became much worse but only lasted for a few minutes or so. I miscarried at 6 weeks in April. I remember a lot of back pain. It started as brown staining and then turned into a gush of red. The heavy bleeding lasted for me 2 days and then I just spotted constantly for another 4 days. And I think the bleeding seems heavier because we're not used to using pads and seeing blood every month as I had to for the m/c. At this early of a pregnancy, there trurthfully isn't much tissue to lose, you would expect to have more pain and bleeding at a later pregnancy loss. You're fine! Try to relax. If your doctor hasn't scheduled you for a 2 week checkup, make sure to make an appointment for that-at that time, they will run your bloodwork and make sure your HCG levels are coming way down. When they see that they are coming way down, they will know you don't need D&C. D&C's are pretty uncommon for this early of a pregnancy loss. Remember to take Motrin or Ibuprofen instead of Tylenol if you can because it's a pain reliever that is ALSO an anti-inflammatory, no baths or swimming until 2 weeks after the bleeding has stopped, same with sex, because your cervix may not be all the way back to normal.

After I lost the baby itself, My bleeding only lasted for four days. I didn't need a D&C, so I don't know how long was normal for them, just my personal experience. As far as the actual miscarriage and losing the baby, that was the most painful experience of my life, and I have givne birth drug free to a 10lb 6oz baby. But I was 11 weeks, which may account for the difference, your baby would have been much smaller than mine, so it would theoretically be easier to pass. I was laying in the back seat of the car on the way home from the hospital just crying and moaning and praying please god let it be over soon! About ten minutes after taking the Vicodin, I stopped feeling pain, so I will be forever grateful to those little pills!

With me I had to miscarriages. I lost the first one at 8weeks, they did a D&C right away. Then 2 or 3 months later I got pregnant again we lost that one at 9weeks, and my dr. had me do a D&C the next day. I had a lot of heavy bleeding after both but mainly the second. After the second I bleed for a month and a week or 2. My dr. said it was fine. But if you really think something is wrong I would seriously suggest you go to the doctors about it. I'm sorry for your lose, I know how hard it is!***

First off, I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I've had two. The first one I was just starting my sixteenth week of pregnancy. I bled for quite a while with that one. I don't remember the exact number of days. It was over a week though. The second one I was only about five or six weeks. It was so much less painful than the first one, just minor cramping and I think I bled heavily for three days and just spotted for another two or three. So it sounds like you're experiencing the normal way of things. My sister in law lost her first baby at seven weeks and she bled for eight days and was in a lot of pain. I think it varies for everyone. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss. Take care of yourself. You may feel fine, but your body is still adjusting.

It sounds about right. I had a missed miscarriage, where they had to do a D&C because it did not naturally abort. Every woman is different. I believe it is perfectly natural, however I would not count it as a regular period if you are going to try again right away. I would wait until you have a regular cycle. I am sorry for your loss, best of luck in the future. (I am now 19 weeks along)
