no it doesn't.

their lies serve two purposes:

1. they help facilitate their power structure and keeps the sheep (the american consuming public) buying more and more crap and working more and more hours. that is something they like. they want us to consume as much as we can and work as many hours as we can to buy more crap. it makes industry, which they are in bed with, richer. so they can live the life of luxury.

2. by feeding the general public patriotic lies and propaganda, they are betting on the basic emotions of the average ignoramous. people who are ignorant and generally don't have much to feel good about. what better than your citizenship and nationality? even the biggest loser and bum can boast "I'm an American" and try to stand tall while saying it.
all this patriotic pandering gives them ratings from the most uneducated part of the country and from those who a deprived of personal accomplishments who need nationalism to feel good about themselves.
