Howdy,
I have been breeding guppies for a long time and I have the answer to your question since I was in the eXact situation as you are right now. The female will have a big gravid (dark) spot near her anal fin like this fish here: http://guppyplace.tripod.com/preghby.jpg
Before most of my guppies give birth, they usually don't have a big appetite for food, hang out away from the other fish, are REALLY fat, and usually swim around frantically. But then again every guppy is different so another way you could tell is by looking at her from above and if she looks either REALLY round or 'square looking', then it's time to put her into a breeding net and she should have babies overnight! (thats when they usually give birth) Once she gives birth, immediately remove her from the babies or else she WILL eat them...cruel huh? =) Here is a picture of a breeding net if you don't know what I mean: http://www.aquaticeco.com/images/items/A934_rgb.jpg
The breeding net is in almost every pet store (i bet even petco has it) and i have have the best results from it.
Here is a good website for you: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/1815/breeding.html
Good luck with your fishies!
(if you are satisfied...how about a best answer? If you are satisfied that is.) =)

I have bred guppies, among other fish, for years. The females will usually look very large, like they are going to explode kinda large. There will be a dark spot at the back of their abdomen that expands over time. When she is about to have her babies she will usually find a "safe" seclueded spot to have them. If you she her not eating and hiding out in a cave, plants or anywhere else she can find to hide then your babies are not far away.
You should know that if you do not have allot of plant material and floating plant mateial as well for the fry to hide in the adult fish will eat them unless you put the mother into a breeding tank or hold and remove her as soon as they little ones are born.
Good luck

at first, male guppies are many times smaller than the ladies human beings while they have all reached adulthood, men take approximately 6 months to realize adulthood, while women human beings attain adulthood at approximately 4 months. men are those with the colourful colorings and in between their pectoral fins with are in many cases pointier than the ladies human beings, they have an prolonged, "rod-like" fin referred to as a "gonopodium". The gonopodium is a duplicate area used to fertilize the eggs contained in the female. women all and sundry is in many cases greater desirable and is of a user-friendly shade, yet could have colored tails. they even have an fantastically distinguishing black or pink patch on their abdomens referred to as a gravid spot. This "gravid spot" is somewhat like the womb of a human, that's the place they shop their youthful until they are totally progressed and then the female will supply delivery to approximately 4-a hundred+ fry. The gestation era of a woman is approximately 4 - 5 weeks, so some month.
