I live in Derbyshire and the areas I am in are only a little less than some parts of south Manchester. It does vary.
If you are comparing prices against London properties then anything looks cheap in comparison.

Mainly because Derbyshire is a big County and jobs are few and far between. If you have got a job in Sheffield you can easily commute into the Peak District and around there and enjoy the best of both worlds.

I live in Derby and have recently sold my house. I have been looking in and around derbyshire and have also found that prices outside of the city are fairly cheap, you do seem to get more for your money! Not to mention the beautiful scenery and villages.
I can only guess the prices are cheaper because of the commuting times back into the surrounding city's? But if that doesnt bother you then go for it. Derbyshire is beautiful.

Maybe it is in comparison to prices in London and surrounding areas, probably because most jobs are concentrated in the South East.
