I say that we should report all bible thumpers in this section as spam. They're annoying and can take up a lot of space in the page. They're book advertising. It's okay to have you're own opinion, but if you're copying and pasting verses, you're spamming. Plain and simple. Anyone agrees?

I'm not talking about suppressing their opinion. Everyone has an opinion. I'm talking about the post that is nothing but bible verses. That's not an opinion, that's plagerism.

If they keep posting the same stuff, with no original words, I do report them.

I know what you mean, I've had the same issue with Muslims in Religion & Spirituality. I have nothing against Islam in general, but certain sects apparently aren't supposed to paraphrase the Word of God; so you get entire chapters pasted in, when one sentence would have done the trick.

I've never heard of any Christian denominations who believe it's a sin to summarize the Bible (they definitely have no problem making up their own interpretations of it), so they don't get to use that excuse. In fact, I suspect a lot of them are intentionally filling up space just to be obnoxious - like the practice of answering questions you don't like by posting 5 screens worth of empty space, followed by something inane and irrelevant.

But there are others who are so naive (or whatever you want to call it), they genuinely believe that by showing you the part of the Bible where it says (or could be interpreted to say) that they're right and you're wrong, you will suddenly see the error of your ways. This is particularly amusing (again, feel free to substitute your own word) when they are arguing that their Bible says you are somebody other than who you say you are.

An alternative to reporting them is to simply retaliate, using actual Biblical quotes. My personal favorite is Nehemiah 7:8-72. It is an incredibly long and pointless geneology, which is utterly devoid of meaningful interpretation. Use it to "prove" absolutely whatever you want.

Whenever I see that kind of posting I ignore it and move on. They have nothing to tell me. I already know I refuse to accept what they say, but they're just booring and lonely.

But you can report them as spamming. Truth is they'll just make up another ID and come back! Ignore them! Don't give them the satisfaction of answering them with an insult or anything.

That's what I do, works for me!!

I know plenty of ppl who read the bible but don't go on and on about verse from the bible.I know religious people who don't hate on homosexuals. They know that back in jesus' time they only thoguht we were heterosexuals..Homosexuality wasn't known til the 1900s.I say let them judge us ,for judging others is a sin.God will judge them like they judged us.Some people fail to realize that homosexuality is not a choice.Just the way we were created.Religion teaches us that god loves us all.Even homosexuals.

I am a Bible Thumper, but I do agree with you. It annoys me to see long, lengthy answers of any kind, especially 10 million Bible quotes or scientific garble. My ears just close up and it is a complete turn-off...

The worst thing about bible thumpers, is that no one will remember any good questions, only the horrible crappy ones that are so offensive.

what your talking about is surpressing opinions and the logical facts they use to back it up. If reading a biblical verse bothers you that much than you must have something wrong with your beliefs to have them shaken in such a way, otherwise you would just ignore them.

Well, it is annoying, but everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. It's unfortunate that the people who copy and paste verse after verse use that as their reasoning instead of paraphrasing what they're trying to say or using their own minds. JMHO

Too often the Bible is used as a weapon to club people over the head.
