Emo is a softer form of punk rock with a definitive (some have argued dorky) dress code (tight, ironic shirts, tight pants, asymetrical haircuts, scarves, keds/mary janes, ect. Goth is generally focused on the darker side of life, although most real goths are mature, nice people who have pretty good senses of humor (as opposed to mall goths, which are basically 13-year-olds who listen to Slipknot and MCR and think they're morbid and deep with souls descended from the mystic plains of Transylvania, despite the fact that they grew up in the suburbs and got all their 'goth' stuff at Hot Topic. Also, Mall Goths tend to try to impress people or creep them out (the same thing to them)). Goth came from punk. That's about all I can think of for now.
