Understanding that you will probably go to Iraq and possibly get you A** shot off, the military is a fine idea. It's a 3 or 4 year commitment. There's money for college when you get out, VA Housing loans when you want to buy a house and a chance to travel on the militarys dime. Once you get past Basic Training it's not so bad. Basic sucks but it's only 12 weeks. There's a definite end to it. Just like your tour, there will be a last day, one tour is not a lifetime commitment. So, if you don't like it you can get out.

Military can shape you up and make some discipline in your behaviour. You don't have to think very much (unles you advance in the chain of command) and could make some good friends.
Cons: as far as I know, many pro soldiers are mindless, or at least simple minded. I fully believe in this. And imagine that you go to war (not so unlikely) and get shot, or get to shoot someone. I don't think I could live with that; maybe you could.

Hi,,, good to see you are using your head..... let me tell you... put the Rambo out and think.... something that you are very interested in doing....... and then .... ask about it......

I highly suggest the Air Force,,,,, they have better beds and food than the others do.... and more technical stuff also.....and get to travel for free......
The Montgomery G I bill will also be there for you when you want to go to college.....find out all about it ,,, Before you sign the line!!!!

AND,, the miliatary is Not for everyone.......

good luck

The Marines were my choice. After my hitch was up, I went to college under the G.I. Bill, received my BA degree, and had really jobs since.

Stay away from the Marines - unless you're up for thrills, spills, and death.

Military can be a great career, but make sure you can handle taking orders from everybody
