I have to say that my favourite group of the 80s was R.E.M. because they were a real antidote to all of the other music out there (specifically heavy metal, or hair and spandex noise as I like to think of it). Apart from U2, they were the only band that seemed to give a damn about something apart from their own egos.

Rick Springfield.....Here is a full on pop star in the 80's. Some people think his music is bubble gum rock but I liked it and the guy can rock to.

Joy Division then New Order, for a band to continue after the lead singers death and to go from strength to strength is amazing! Then Bernard Sumner and Johnny Marr got together for Electronic - AWESOME!
