Well, actually, if you check, the studies show that there are millions of people who ARE overweight, so, they really NEED to be concerned about weight, because it is a serious health issue.
It's easy to second-guess and wonder about this kind of thing, but, how many of your friends are overweight? How many of them really want to lose weight? Regardless of personality, obesity contributes to ill-health and to heart attacks, and that's just too serious to ignore.

What does a lot of the TV, video, and Internet chatter concern? People losing weight, people improving their appearance, hardly the stuff of the Dale Carnegie course. Until we make it a priority ourselves to improve our personality (a non-material item, so commercial advertisers and mass media don't try to appeal to that), the rest won't matter.

Good point. Some people become so obsessed about weight that it makes them less fun to be around. On the other hand, it isn't just about attractiveness, it's also a health issue, so you can't just say people should just work on one or the other.

Probably because there's A LOT of overweight people who's personality's just fine. A bad personality will not cause diabetes, heart disease, strokes etc., too much weight will.
Extra weight will shorten your life span.....a bad personality shortens your list of friends.

because its become a huge problem in America. But yes, i know what you mean. They need to get rid of MTV.
To Meowface: that is exactly the opposite. Usually from my experience, obese people seem to be more moody (just from what i know) cause they are not happy.

Overweight people are the most fun to be with..and are generally the 'jolliest'...because they don't care about what they look like. They are much LESS selfish than the a-list mofos who invest thousands of dollars in themselves.

I suppose because we are first judged on our appearance, not on our personality.
And isn't the phrase : "She's got a great personality" basically an insult to a woman?
I believe your statement SHOULD be right, but in reality it isn't. Unfortunately.
